Hello everyone! Here I am, back to blow up your news feed! So, I said in my “How I Clean My Makeup Brushes” blog on Monday that I was going to
have a few prom inspired blogs coming up because prom season is fast
approaching! I love doing prom makeup! It's the best. I
am doing two girls this weekend for a prom in South Dakota and then I going to do five girls back in my hometown in a few weeks! I am super excited! I know that not
everyone chooses to get their makeup done for prom so I am going to try to do a
few different makeup looks over the course of the next couple of weeks to show
some people how to different looks. So, if you have any looks in mind, let your girl know! I would be happy to do some looks for you.
I am going to do a step-by-step on the look above! This look I did today is a pretty
dramatic prom look. I am all about dramatic makeup looks! I am all about a smokey eye and a nude lip! I go for the more "sexy" looks. There is no shame in my game! For this particular look, I used all Makeup Geek eye shadows. Makeup geek shadows are my favorite! They are $5.99 for a quarter sized pan and they
are the best eye shadows ever! I love them! GO BUY THEM!
So, I am just going to say that this step-by-step is not going to be perfect! I took all these pictures in natural lighting and I don’t know if you all
noticed but it is pretty gloomy outside today so the lighting wasn’t too hot.
Also, as you will notice, I start with my eyes so that means that I have no face makeup on AT ALL. You guys will notice that my skin is like super scared
up! It doesn’t really look bad in person, like I can happily go without
makeup and feel fine, but it looks terrible in these pictures so I was like oh
my gosh, I look hideous! But, I am who I am! My scars are easily hidden as you will see! Let's get started!
Dark, Dramatic, and Sexy Prom Look
Am I allowed to say sexy for a HS prom?
Am I allowed to say sexy for a HS prom?
Step 1: Start with a clean and moisturized face! This step is
so important! It doesn’t matter how much makeup you have on or even if you are
wearing any makeup at all that day, wash your face in the morning! I use the same three products
every morning, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, the Mario Badescu Facial Spray
with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater, and then the Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer.
I wash my face with the Cetaphil, dry my face, then spray my face with my
rosewater, let it sit for a few minutes, and then rub my moisturizer all over
my face.
Step 2: Prime your eyelids! I used the Lorac Behind the Scenes
Eye Primer and then I used the NYX Eye Shadow Base! This step will help make
your eye shadow stay on your lids!
Step 3: Grab some tape, rip off a decent sized piece of tape,
put it on the back of your hand, rip it off, put it back on your hand, rip it
off again, and then place it underneath your lower lashes to create a sharp
defined line! I always do this when I want a dramatic look!
Step 4: Grab a blending brush and mix together Makeup Geek
Peach Smoothie and Makeup Geek Crème Brulee eye shadows! Place these right in
and above your crease! These two shades will act as your transition shades. I
would tell you guys my brush but I don’t know what type it is!
Yay! Here come the super pretty selfies! Enjoy!
Step 5: Grab a crease brush! I used brush No. 116 from
Sonia Kashuk! I mentioned this brush in my “How to be Beautiful on a Budget:
Drugstore Cosmetics 101” blog. Swirl your brush around in Makeup Geek Frappe
eye shadow! Place this color directly in your crease and go back and forth in
windshield wiper motions!
** Go back in with your original brush from
step 4 and with no additional product on it and blend it all together in your
crease! This will help with harsh lines! **
Step 6: Go in with another crease brush! I used a different
Sonia Kashuk No. 116 brush. Dip your brush in Makeup Geek’s Cocoa Bear eye shadow
and place it right in your crease over your Frappe shadow! Focus more on the
outer corners of your eyes and less on the inner corners. This Cocoa Bear eye
shadow is my favorite color of all time! I love it!
** Go back in with your original brush from
step 4 and with no additional product on it and blend it all together in your
crease! **
Step 8: Grab some Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue, put
it on your finger, and apply it directly all over your entire eyelid. You
cannot skip this step with this look! This glue will lock your pigment that you
are using next on your eyes. The pigment will just fall right out if you don’t
use the glitter glue. You can get this product at Ulta or Sephora!
Step 9: Here comes the star of the show, Makeup Geek Utopia
pigment! I love this stuff! It’s amazing! Grab a flat definer brush. I just
used a brush from one of the Naked pallets. Dip your brush in the pigment and
place the product all over your entire eyelid! Do not go above your crease!
Just get right in your crease but not above!
Isn't it pretty?
Isn't it pretty?
Step 10: Grab a pencil brush! I used an EcoTool’s pencil
brush. Dip the pencil brush right into the Makeup Geek Corrupt eye shadow.
Beware, this shadow is BLACK so don’t get too crazy! Put this shadow right in
your crease to create a slight cut crease! Like I said, dramatic eye look! Also
place this shadow right over that “outer v” area of your eye (place it
right on the corner)! Blend, blend, blend, blend, and blend again!
It looks really sloppy right now! Trust me, it will look awesome!
** Go back in with your brush from step
5 or step 6 and with SOME additional product on it blend it all together in
your crease! This will help with harsh lines of that black shadow! This is so
important! **
Step 11: Put more shadows where ever you feel is necessary!
Step 13: Now, for the eyeliner! First, I lined my upper water line with my L’Oreal Carbon Black Extra Intense Liquid
Pencil Eyeliner. Next, I went in with the Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Eyeliner in
the color blackest black and drew a thin line of liner from inner to outer
corner. You could stop right here or you could create a wing! I decided to
create a wing! Why not, right? I used the NYC Liquid Eyeliner in the color black. You can
decide how big you want your wing; it is totally up to you!
And this is my liner with a wing!
This is my liner without a wing!
You are done with the eyes for now!
Step 14: Apply the foundation
of your choice! I would recommend picking one without an SPF if you don't want white face in pictures, but sometimes it's fine! I used my Holy Grail L’Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in the
shades N3 and W2 (it does have SPF). I put these on the back of my hand, mix them together, and
then apply little dots all around my face!
Step 15: Go in with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and
press the foundation into your skin and then go around in little circular
motions. You can go in with damp Beauty Blender after if you feel like it.
Yay! Back to looking human!
One of my eyes is swollen... Yay!
Step 16: Go in with the concealer of your choice! I used the
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in the shade fair! Apply this in an upside
down triangle shape and tap it out with your ring finger! You can also go in
with damp Beauty Blender after this step as well if you feel like it! I did not
use a Beauty Blender for my concealer!
Step 17: Set your concealer with a powder! I used the L’Oreal
Hydra Perfecte Perfecting Loose Powder in the shade 917. I picked this stuff up
yesterday because I forgot my powder at home! I like it so far!
Step 18: Apply more concealer to highlight down the bride of
your nose, a little bit in the center of your forehead, and on your chin! Blend
it out with a beauty blender! Then set these areas with a powder! You can also put powder
where you normally get oily. I don't have that issue!
Step 19 For a Cream Contour: Grab a Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick. I use the
shade 330! Draw lines in the hollows of your cheeks, on your forehead, on your
chin, down your nose (optional), and underneath you jaw! Then grab a Real
Techniques Stippling Brush and gently blend the lines out! Then grab a bronzer or just a translucent powder of your choice and just go over it to set your contour! You must set your cream contour!
Can I go out like this?
Ugh! It looks so pretty when it is blended!
Step 19 For a Powder Contour: Grab the bronzer or darker powder of your choice! I used the NYC Smooth
Skin Bronzing Face Powder in 720A Sunny. I applied my powder first with an
E.L.F Flawless Concealer Brush. I drew harsh lines in the hollows of my cheeks,
on my chin, down your nose (optional), and underneath my jaw. Then, blend it
out! I used the Sonia Kashuk brush No. 113! Blend, blend, blend! You can
apply more products as desired!
This is unblended!
This is blended. Keep in mind, I have both a cream and powder contour on so it is going to be a little thick and out of control! I did cream first. I kept blending more throughout.
Step 20: Grab a flat definer brush and the Makeup Geek Corrupt
eye shadow and apply this very tightly to your lower lash line! You can choose
how smoked out you want your lower lash line to be! I don’t like a smokey lash
line, my eyes are way too small! This was even a little smokey for me! Hint; make it more smokey on the
edges of your eye towards your winged eyeliner to make it look real good!
This is how tight I get it to my lash line.
This is more smoked out.
Step 21 (Optional): Line your lower water line with a black eye pencil. I
used the L’Oreal Carbon Black Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner. This will
make you look like a total sex kitten! I always do this step if I am going out.
Step 22: Apply Makeup Geek’s Shimma Shimma eye shadow on your
brow bone and in your inner tear duct! This will help lighten things up! Beware
with Shimma Shimma because it is super pigmented! Have I mentioned how much I love Makeup Geek shadows? ;)
Step 23 (Optional): Curl
your lashes!
Step 24: Apply a ton of mascara of your choice! I used both
Covergirl Lash Blast in blackest black and a Clinique mascara (the title is
wore off) in the shade Extreme Black! You can also apply mascara to your lower
lashes. You can also do falsies! I didn't want to waste mine.
And we have nice lashes!
Step 25: Apply some blush with a brush blush on the apples of
your cheeks and blend it back towards your ear! I used the Makeup Geek blush in
the shade Romance. This blush is heaven!
Step 26 (Optional): Apply some highlighter at the tops of your cheekbones!
I used a mix of the bareMinerals Ready Luminzer in the shades Love Affair and
The Shinning Moment. I applied them with another E.LF. Concealer brush!
Step 27: Apply some lipstick! I used a Maybelline lipstick in
the shade Nude Lust 920. It's basically my favorite thing in the world.
Step 28 (Optional): Apply some lip-gloss! I used the Urban Decay Naked
lip-gloss in the shade Walk of Shame! I love this name and I love this gloss.
Buy it! I don't know where my pictures went! Sorry!
Step 29: Set your makeup with a setting spray! The one I like
the best is the Urban Decay Up All Night setting spray!
Yay! I made it in less than thirty steps! Keep in
mind; this is not an every day look! This took me about 30-35 minutes! I always
set aside 45 minutes for when I am doing girls’ makeup for prom! Beauty takes
time!
The Finished Product! I love it!

Sorry for the book again.

Have a lovely day!
