A Day In The Life

Well, hello there gorgeous! FYI, this blog is my reward for studying today. Yes, I needed a reward for studying. Can we just take a minute to appreciate the perfect weather that we have been blessed with lately? Ugh. I can’t even begin to explain my love for the weather. The only struggle I am having is how hard this weather makes it for studying. Finals week is next week and it is supposed to be 80 degrees all weekend, we will see how much studying I manage to get done.

Speaking of finals week... I took a little bit of a  “pre-finals me day” yesterday which included all of my favorite things. I stopped at Starbucks, went to Barnes and Nobles, made my way to Target, then spent hours at Ulta and Sephora, went to the mall, went to Panera Bread, and then I got to top my day off with a tractor ride. It was a perfect day; the only thing that was missing was a pedicure! I love spending days with myself, is that weird?

Side note, can I just tell you all that if you haven’t ever had a Green Tea Frappuccino from Starbucks that you probably should probably get one ASAP? Holy moly, that thing was heaven to my taste buds! I had a white girl moment and took a snap with it.

I was planning on doing a big Ulta and Sephora haul for you all and then I was going to show you all the stuff I got but to be honest, I didn’t want to seem braggy like “hey guys, look at all the stuff I bought myself” and, I didn’t get as much as what I thought I would because I have bills.

I was actually kind of bummed out because two out of the three things that I really wanted to buy weren’t even in stock! And then the other things I was planning on buying I didn't even like. So, it was probably a sign from God being like hey Clarissa, you need to calm yourself.

So, what I really wanted to get yesterday was the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in the shade Medium Deep, and they were out. I also wanted to get the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lolita, which is like a dusty rose mauve color, it is basically pure heaven. Let’s take a minute to talk about these liquid lipstick's. They are absolutely stunning and that is all that needs to be said. They are out of this world pigmented and they are just fabulous. I am so sad that they were out of Lolita. I might just buy it online.

I did manage to snatch the Too Faced Natural Matte Palette. I talked about this palette in my "Top Eye Shadow Palette" blog and I mentioned how I did not have it yet because it literally just came out. This palette was too gorgeous not to buy! It has nine different matte shades and they are just perfect for everyday. I love, love, love it! I am going to have a blog about it soon so I don’t want to say too much about it but, if you’re going to Ulta anytime soon, I would highly suggest it!

Yesterday was a big day for skin care products… I got the Mario Badescu Whitening Mask because I love Mario Badescu and I need to get these acne scars out of my life!
I also spotted a new skin care line at Ulta and I am all about testing new skin care products out so I figured I would give them a whirl. I got the So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleaner and the Picture Perfect Day Daily Moisturizer. I used the cleanser last night and from what I can already tell, I love it! I used the moisturizer today and I really liked the texture of it but the smell was… different. It was hard to explain! I am going to test it out for a few more days and see what happens.

If any of you follow me on Instagram then you might of seen how I posted a picture the other day of the Lorac Ulter Ego Lip-Gloss collection that just came out. I went right to them at Ulta and I stood there for quite some time swatching them on my hand and they were all gorgeous on my hand.

Then I decided to test it on my lips and I must say, I was kind of disappointed in the pigmentation on my actual lips. The texture was nice because they weren't sticky like some glosses tend to be but the pigment was just eh. I had two in my basket and I put them back because I was like, I don’t really know if they are worth the money. Wearing just gloss is something I am not really into; I usually wear a lipstick and then a gloss over it because lip glosses alone just kind of bore me. Lorac has the same Ulter Ego collection but in Lipsticks and I think they are a good collection, they lack in the creaminess department but they still have some super pretty colors! I don’t know, I was just kind of sad because I was really looking forward to buying the one’s that I had in mind. There is my rant for the day!

I also really wanted to try the new Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks but they didn’t have all of the colors out so I just swatched normal ones. The Melted Metal One's I did see were very pretty but they're not exactly "everyday" shades or even texture. They have a lot of shine to them. However, the original Melted Lipsticks are just phenomenal and they worth every penny! The pigment is nutzo,

The Empire Mall was just slacking on clothing options but good old Target was the MVP. I could probably spend all my money there in one visit. Side note, Target has some amazing deals right now so go check it out! I got the cutest ivory romper and big long kimono from there! I never really get dressed up during school because I am lazy but I am so excited to wear it! Ugh! I can’t wait to post a picture.

To top off my day I went to Panera Bread to get my newest obsession, the Thai Chicken salad, and a green tea.

Look at that deliciousness. Try it and it will change your life.

And then after that I got to spend my night in the tractor with one of my best friends.

I don’t think I could have any complaints about yesterday. Life is so good. I am super blessed to say the least. Family, friends, everything.

As for what’s coming up, I will have a new blog up this weekend regarding some of my favorite products. Talk to you soon!

Xoxo,

Clarissa

P.S. Don't forget to take a "me day" once in a while.

Rose Gold Naked 3 Step-by-Step

Hey guys! So, I would say it is a pretty fabulous day in the world of Clarissa because I didn’t have any classes today so therefore I am going to spend the entire day doing what ever I please. I slept in a little bit longer, took a shower, shaved my legs, put makeup on, and now I am writing this lovely blog for you. It is only 1:00ish and I am already having an amazing day.

So, I am planning on going to Sioux Falls after I get this dealio all squared away because I need to run a few errands and I have some cash that is burning a hole in my pocket so Ulta and Sephora here, I come! What a perfect little me day! Everyone needs me day's once in a while... or once a week.

I am going to do a step-by-step on what I look like today, that sounded so awkward! Oopsies! I used the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. This is probably one of the easiest eye looks ever! Literally anyone can do it! I used five shades in all but you honestly wouldn’t even have to use five of them.

I do not use the Naked 3 Palette a whole lot but I do really like it for spring and summer.  I use it a ton on other people because I think it looks very flattering on everyone. But, I just prefer to use browns more.

I am just going to say sorry that I kind of skipped around a lot on this one because the lighting was absolutely horrible because it was super cloudy this morning and then right after I was done then Mr. Sun decided to come out. Pretty typical but, I will not complain about the sun! I will take all the sunshine I can get.

I did a very rosey gold look today because it’s spring and why not? So, let’s get to it!

I washed my face in the shower today so I didn’t do it again once I got out of the shower but, I did moisturize my face using my Simple Replenishing Skin Moisturizer and then after that I gave myself a good drench of the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater (love this stuff). I also put some Chapstick on because my lips are looking a little rough lately.

Notice how I got my brows done, anyone? I needed it bad. Like, bad bad.

I let my moisturizer sit on my skin for like tenish minutes and then I go in with my foundation. I used the L’Oreal True Match and pressed it into my skin with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

I also did my brows but they were just not working with my life today. A new brow pencil is on the list!

Now for the fun part, the eyes!

I grabbed my big no-named blending brush and picked up some Peach Smoothie by Makeup Geek and dusted it right into my crease and slightly above as my transition shade.

I grabbed my Naked 3 Palette and Sonia Kashuk No. 20 brush and dusted the shade Limit all up in my crease in windshield wiper motions.

Next, I reached for my Sonia Kashuk No. 116 brush and put the shade Nooner directly into my crease in windshield wiper motions (how many times can I say that?) but I was focusing more on the outer edges of my eye! Nooner is just slightly darker than Limit. It adds some good depth!

Then, I grabbed the brush that came with my Naked 3 palette and used the small flat side of the brush to apply the shade Trick all over my lid. I made sure to push it up into my crease a bit to make my eyes look larger. Trick is the best shade in this palette, in my opinion! I love love love this color! It doesn’t always show up the best so I misted, misted is not a word, sprayed, I sprayed my brush with the Mario Badescu Facial Spray and then applied it again. Getting your brush wet with any kind of facial spray or even eye drops really changes it! I love doing it… I do it a lot and it's the best.

It is just so pretty! Ugh. I love the shade Trick.

Then I made sure to go back in and blend it all out with no additional product on the brush. Blending is super important with this look because it is very soft and feminine.

I used the shade Shimma Shimma by Makeup Geek to highlight my brow bone and the inner duct of my eye. It really made this look pop a bit more on me.

We are done with the eyes for now!

I grabbed my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade Fair. I’m so pale that it is sad! My spray tan has officially left the building! Any who, I applied it in an upside down triangle underneath my eyes, on my cupids bow, a little on my forehead, and on my chin. I blended it out with my ring finger because I need a new beauty blender. So, I made do.

I made sure to set my concealer with a powder.

Then I smoked out my lower lash line with an Eco Tools Flat brush. I used the shade Nooner on my lower lash line. Then, I also went in with a pencil brush and smoked it out a bit more with the shade Limit!

I grabbed a brown eye pencil and lined my upper and lower waterline. I use brown with pinks rather than black because I think it is a little bit more flattering. Also, this look is not intended to be harsh so I just thought the brown shade would be a much better option.

I curled my lashes and loaded up on the black mascara life. I used my Clinique stuff and all I know about that stuff is the shade is 01 Extreme Black and it really is extreme black.

I needed to bronze myself badly so I just went in with my favorite brush of the moment, the Sonia Kashuk brush No. 113! This brush is the bomb.com. It is ideal for bronzing! I applied some NYC Sunny 720A bronzer on my cheeks, temple, chin, and a tiny bit on my nose. I need to enhance my bronzer life ASAP because I am getting bored with all of mine.

I used two shades for blush today. I mixed Mac Peaches (buy this) and Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Ginger Pop (buy this too). I love to mix my blushes. I don’t know why. You don’t need to! Mac Peaches is a shade that is flattering on everyone and I highly recommend buying it. I don't know if Clinique still has the Cheek Pop Blush or not because they came out with them in spring time last year... Ginger pop is amazing. It is so so so pretty!

I applied some highlighter! I used the bareMinerals Ready Luminizer and I used the pink side, The Love Affair. It is such a soft and pretty highlight!

I set my makeup with the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray! This stuff locks you in like no other.

Then I curled my hair with my wand…

And after that I applied the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in the shade Naked and went on top of it with my bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lip-gloss in the shade Rule Breaker.

Now, you are done! Such a simple and easy look! I didn’t want to spend a ton of time on me today but I still wanted to look good so I compromised with this! Anyone can do this! It is such a simple look! I just wish the lighting had picked up a bit to show you how good it really looks.

I need to learn how to put both my eyes in my selfies... But, I don't. I like one eyed selfies, what can I say?

Go treat yourself today like I am! Thanks for reading!

Clarissa!

My amateur MUA life.

Hey everyone! I hope you are all having an amazing Sunday. AND if any of you are Minnesota Wild fans then I hope you are watched the big game and saw how much ass they kicked! Go wild!

I have been getting a lot of messages lately about what I do for makeup, what events I do, what my rates are, what have ya! So, I figured I could just make it really easy and post a blog about it. Blogging is always the answer!

I have been doing makeup for a very long time but it was usually just some of my friend’s makeup! I didn’t actually start to do makeup until like a few years ago. I have no training in makeup application. I have been doing my own makeup since I was like ten so I have had my fair share of practice. 10 is early…  I know. It has always been something I have enjoyed doing! What can I say?

So, a lot of people are into watching YouTuber's and follow people on Instagram. They are like makeup icons! God bless them! I follow a(n) few UNHEALTHY AMOUNT of YouTuber’s and Instagramer’s. I may be slightly addicted to their lives. With that being said, it is safe to say that I was very surprised when I found out that a large majority of the YouTubers and Instagram people have like no training in makeup application. A few of them have worked at places like MAC Cosmetics or other makeup counters but it is nothing major. I go to college, we all know I go to college, and I am not going to drop out of college to work at a makeup counter! Even though some days it is very appealing, let me tell you! Anyways, they don’t have training; they have just practiced, practiced, and practiced some more after that and have learned a ton about products through out the way. I do not think that you have to be trained in makeup to be good at it. It is all about technique and products! Those girls have become product enthusiasts and I strive to be like them one day… hence the blog life. I am mad jealous about all of the products they get sent to them though, like share with me!

I get several questions about cosmetology school. Several people think that I go to cosmetology school... I do not go to cosmetology school. Yes, I thought about cosmetology school once upon a time just like a lot of other girls do but then I thought being an Ag-Business badass was much cooler. That sounds sarcastic, but it’s not! I can’t wait to go out into the working world! Everyone thinks that if you go to cosmetology school, then you learn about makeup and I think you learn a little bit about it but the main focus is hair and nails. I have no desire to do hair so, I dropped that idea a while ago! I give all those girls a ton of credit because doing hair is not easy! People are picky about their hair! Yikes.

So, to fill my void of not going to cosmetology school, I do makeup on the side. I do makeup for senior pictures, family pictures, bridal makeup, bridal party makeup, for people who are attending weddings, for prom, for random other special occasions, what have you! I do it all. Basically if you want to look really good, I am your girl! I have done makeup for when girls go on dates with their boyfriends before! You want to look good for your BF? I can help! Like, I do it all.

So, here’s how I go about the amateur makeup artist life… I always, always, always make my girls buy their own foundation! I give them a list of foundations that I recommend and then they can go out and buy it! The reason why I make them bring their own foundation is because that way I do not have to have a million foundations lying around and also it gets people out and understanding how to pick foundations! Maybe one day I will be able to have 16 foundations on hand but as of right now it is not happening! Keep in mind, I still will apply the foundation for you. It is just your own product and not my product!

I also recommend them to bring their own lip product because that way they have it for the entire day and not just when they are sitting in a chair in front of me! I will find out their dress color and what not and then recommend lipsticks from there! Recommending products is probably my favorite thing in the world to do.

A lip product and foundation are the only two things that I require my clients to bring.

I am very very very picky (hence the very picky) about cleanliness and sanitation of my products! I disinfect literally everything and I clean my brushes between each and every client.  Like, when I did prom makeup this past Saturday I would take the time to spray down my brushes with a fast drying brush cleaner. If I were doing a single person, then I would just take them home and clean them when I was done. I do not need anyone getting an infection!

Beauty takes time! If you would chose to get your makeup done by me, it will usually take about 45 minutes because I like to take my time and not feel rushed. It may not take 45 minutes but I like to have that cushion. I want all of my clients to walk out of the door and like they could take over the world! I want them to feel hot as hot can be! So, that is why I always schedule off more than enough time!  Plus, I am a perfectionist so I sit there and try to perfect everything I do to your face.

The number one thing I get asked about are my rates or what I charge. I charge $30 per person if it includes lash application. I charge $25 if it includes no lash application. It costs more with lash application because let's be real, lashes can be a pain in the booty! But, lashes are so worth it for a special occasion! I charge a little bit more for bridal makeup depending on the look they want, it will be anywhere from $30-40. I still will only charge $25-30 for the bridesmaids. The reason why I charge more for the bride is because she is my main focus and I spend a lot of time on her just because I want her to look absolutely amazing for her big day! Practice trials are something I do if time allows. I used to do them all the time just to make myself feel more comfortable but now I am super comfortable with everyone that I do. I think that a run through is more important for bridal makeup because a lot of the brides that I do are people that I have never met before so I have no idea about what their skin type is, what their eye lids are like, what their undertones are, what have you! It ensures a much better wedding day for them. I am highly considering doing a packaged deal for Bridal parties.

I often get asked when people should contact or hire me and I am super cool and calm about it. Sometimes people ask me a few days before and it just works that I am available… other times I have people ask me like four months in advance. It just depends on my schedule and their schedule! I had a bride ask me to do her and her bridal party like a year in advance and that was super nice! Also, if you change your mind, you change your mind! Just let me know within a week! I’m pretty relaxed about it.

If you are interested in booking me for any event feel free to message me on my Made-Up in the Midwest page (click on it), my personal page (click on it), or email me at clarissawaibel@gmail.com.

You can always text me if you have my number. Lord knows I don’t need my phone number floating around the Internet!

I think that is everything you would all need to know… I hope that is everything. Anything else just ask your girl aka me!

Enjoy this beautiful day!

Xoxo,

Clarissa
