Formula 10.0.6 Product Review!

Happy Tuesday! I went to the dentist today so my Tuesday is trying to regain the happy aspect of life because I honestly hate the dentist.  I hate the smell, the sounds, the textures, the excessive drying of my lips; it’s just an all around bad time. The lady I go to is such a sweetie though so she makes it much better!

So, I did a little “Day in the Life” blog the other week, which included a little Ulta and Sephora haul, and I mentioned how I bought two new products for my face so I feel like I need to do a review on them… And my sister in law asked me how one of them worked so I was like oh shit I bet other people are wondering that too! So, S/O to Katie for making this thing happen.

So, the products I will be talking about are from the Formula 10.0.6 brand.

Let’s start with the So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser Original Formula, shall we?

Details, details, details! This product is a deep pore cleanser with salicylic acid. It is an acne treatment that helps clear acne pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads while preventing the development of new acne blemishes.

So, how do you use it? Apply to a freshly cleaned face with a cotton pad and wipe all over your face and neck area. Don’t rinse after! You can do it up to three times a day!

What is my honest opinion about this product? I really like this product! I think it is super easy to use and it is extremely lightweight on my skin. It burns ever so slightly while putting it on my skin. I am the type of person where I actually like that sensation while using my cleansers because then I actually feel like it is working. Any cleanser that contains salicylic acid should probably burn just ever so slightly because hello, it is acid. This product only contains 0.5% salicylic acid, which is a lot less than the normal 2% that other drugstore cleansers contain! There are pros and cons to the light amount of acid in it... The positive side is that it won’t dry out your skin so bad like high amounts of salicylic acid tends to do (this product really doesn’t dry out your skin like at all)! But, it kind of sucks because what if someone actually needs that extra boost of acid? I am one where I like to toss in a salicylic acid treatment in somewhere along the lines and this is the one that I am currently using. I love that it is like so gentle and it still helps with my acneish (more so scars) skin. This product is awesome for both acre prone and non-acne prone skin!

Will I buy it again? Yes. yes, yes!

Where can you get this? Ulta for $5.99!

So, on to the Picture Perfect Day Daily Moisturizer.

Details, details, details! The Picture Perfect Day Moisturizer with SPF 15 is a daily gel moisturizer that helps hydrate your skin and protect it all in one. It contains Guava and Vitamin C.

How do you use it? Apply it to a clean and fresh skin using your fingers daily!

What is my honest opinion about it? I liked this product a lot… until I got it in my eye! Like, OUCH! When they say avoid the eye area, they fricken mean it! I like the way this moisturizer feels on my skin and I do like the way that my makeup applies on top of it. I will be honest; I really don’t like the smell at all. I think it is a great every day moisturizer but I don’t feel like OMG I NEED THIS PRODUCT EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE which is kind of sad because I feel like I have heard good things about it.

Will I buy it again? Probably not. I like other ones that I have tried better!

Where can you get this? Ulta for $6.99!

Free samples actually make my day, especially when they are the Keep Me Clean Clarifying Facial Wipes with Cucumber and Witch Hazel.

Details, details, details! Keep Me Clean Clarifying Facial Wipes with Cucumber and Witch Hazel is clarifying facial wipes that you can use anywhere anytime. These wipes help to effectively remove oil, dirt, and makeup!

How do you use it? Gently wipe the cloth all over the face, neck, and eye area. No need to rinse! You can either stop there or choose to go about your normal face routine!

What is my honest opinion about it? These things are the bomb.com! They are so gentle and so refreshing! I am sad that mine are out. They are so lightweight and the smell is amazing! I feel like they really hydrate my skin without making my skin feel weird like some other wipes tend to do. They are gentle yet very effective! Love them!

Will I buy it again? I am buying more next Ulta trip, so yes, I will be.

Where can you get this? Ulta for $5.99!

All in all, I think that the Formula 10.0.6 brand has some really good products! They have a wide selection of products and I definitely plan on trying some more! I already know the products that I have in mind. :)

Go out to Ulta and try some for yourself!

Happy cleansing!

Wedding Season 101: Get The Perfect Lip Color For Your Dress

Hello darling! It’s a Monday and I didn’t have to wake up for class! Yassss! Being done with school and work for a few weeks will honestly be the best thing ever!

I don’t know if anyone has noticed but wedding season is approaching and it is approaching FAST! I went to my first wedding of the season yesterday in St. Paul. My cousin got married and she did this super awesome riverboat cruise on the Mississippi River. Random side note; they also served brunch food so obviously it won my heart. Sometimes when you live in a small town, the wedding scene can get a little… repetitive. So, it was super cool to switch it up a bit and go somewhere different.

I love weddings! I love everything about them. I love getting dressed up, I love the family time, I love to celebrate love because I think it is fabulous. I just love love in general. My friends reading are probably hearing my voice go “I JUST LOVE LOVE!” because I always say that.

There is no denying that I like to get dressed up. If I can wear heels and a dress then I am fricken in! The only part that sucks is trying to make your whole look like flow together. Us girls have to worry about the hair, the makeup, the shoes, the dress, the nails, everything!

The biggest struggle I always have is trying to pick out my lip color.

I always want to try something fun and new and I feel like my lips are always a good place to start. However, I don’t always want to spend a ton on a lip color that I don’t plan on wearing a lot. I know that I am not the only one who has that problem so, I figured I would help ya’ll out and give ya some hints at the lip product life for wedding season… and they all come from the drugstore. So, yay for life!

Let’s start with my favorite color ever, yellow. I feel like some people are always nervous to wear yellow and I don't know why! I think yellow is so pretty on people! The lip colors that I think are the most flattering with yellow dresses are those mauvey rose Kylie Jenner lip colors or like a winey berry color. Lipsticks such as Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rum Raisin, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rose Velvet, Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick No. 014, or Maybelline Touch of Spice are awesome options for a more mauvey look. Maybelline Plum Paradise might be the best plum color from Target in my opinion.

Blue is always a color that people love to wear. There are so many different shades of blue which kind of throws life for a loop but it’s all good in the hood because that means that blue will be flattering on anyone! I personally think that red and coral shades are super gorgeous with a blue dress. Shades such as Maybelline Very Cherry or Revlon Rich Girl Glam orrrrr Maybelline Siren in Scarlet (the best) are awesome options for a red lipstick. Or you can always go for a fun coral shade like Revlon Coral Berry, L’Oreal Colour Riche in Caring Coral, Maybelline Color Sensational in Peach Poppy, or Maybelline Color Whisper in Coral Ambition.

Everyone loves purple. Purple is a bit of a tough color because it is typically cooler in tone so you usually have to play it safe and go with a nude. Awesome nude options include Revlon in Prim Rose, Wet n Wild Megalast Lipcolor in Bare It All, L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick in Jennifer’s Nude (I have used four things of this color).

I love love love to wear the color orange... except for when I had bright red hair. It is just such a fun color! I typically go for a pink or a nude lip when I am wearing orange. I go for shades like Revlon Wink for Pink, Rimmel London in Pink Star, Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color in Don’t Blink Pink.

I love white but I am one of those girls where I don’t think you should wear white to a wedding because I think the bride should be the one living the white life. But, I think that white calls for a super fun lip color like a bright as hell magenta or fuchsia. I love Maybelline Color Sensational Matte in the shade Mesmerizing Magenta, L’Oreal Colour Riche in Magenta, or Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom in Hibiscus Pop.

Who doesn’t want to wear a super hot red dress? Red is a color that will always scream sexy to me. I always go with true nudes for when I am wearing red because red is red. Red speaks for itself.  Some of my favorite nudes are Maybelline Nude Lust, and Maybelline Truffle Tease. I am keeping my mouth closed about the others because I need to write a blog!

Pink is a color wear you can play with a bit! You can wear a pink lipstick, a peachy pink, or a nude. You can kind of mess around with the hue of it which is fun! You can wear colors like Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Smoked Peach or Maybelline Color Whisper in Bare to be Bold.

Black… Wear what ever color your pretty little heart desires.

Lipstick option city! Holy balls, I gave you like 20 options! Like I said, you can totally mix and match. It is totally up to you! Yellow would look good with a super bright pink and white would look super good with red. It just depends what look you are going for and what you accessorize with! I just wanted to toss some ideas out there because it can be fricken overwhelming!

Lipsticks are just always such a fun way to mix up life a bit. I didn’t mention nudes too much because I have a favorite nude lipstick blog coming up.

I am so philosophical... I know.

Have a great day!

Xoxo,

Clarissa

Bye Bye Sophomore Year

Well, I guess I am a junior now? Three more semesters of college to go! I look back on my year and can’t even believe how much this year flew right on by me. I always feel like my life stays in the exact same place but in reality my life is just flying at a million miles a second. It is crazy!

It is safe to say that my sophomore year of college was a lot different than my freshman year of college. It was different for many reasons, some good and some not so good. But, hey, who doesn’t like to mix it up?

I honestly had the most ideal freshman year that anyone could have ever asked for. I did not have a single care in the fricken world (most of the time). I spent more time with my friends than I ever spent looking in a book and I arguably walked 20,000 miles all around the town of Brookings from party to party. I had an amazing freshman year full of amazing memories.

My sophomore year was a little bit more on the “tame” scale of life? . The “you tamed down a lot” comment was thrown at me several times this year and I am completely cool with that. Yes, I was a lot more boring this year; I will admit it (S/O to all my freshman party friends out there). This year I spent a lot more time at the library and I actually cared about my grades. I went to career fairs, I went to talk to my professors, I actually read some chapters in my textbooks (not all but some), and I skipped out on a few weekends of drinking. I grew up a bit, I guess.

I learned A TON of stuff my sophomore year of college that didn’t even require me to open up a book. How amazing, right?

Hands down one of the most important things I learned this year was that grades do not measure intelligence. There are sometimes where I could study my ass off for five months for an exam and I probably still wouldn’t of gotten an A on certain exams (aka Econ 330) and then there were other times when I didn’t study at all and I got a 98%. I don’t know if my professors were trying to play a trick on me or what? I personally did NOT find it very humorous.

I also learned to go to class because in all reality, what the hell else was I going to be doing at 11:00 on a Tuesday?  With that being said, a night out is not going to kill me or my grades. My grades will pull through. All college kids owe it to themselves to go out whenever they desire to.

Fun fact of the day, making time for your friends really does matter whether it is for the weekend or for two hours. My friends listen to all of my problems in life so they deserve some lovin.

Relationships are going to change. I knew that I was bound to grow apart from people eventually.  There are people from my freshman year that I used to talk to a lot and now I don’t even talk to them anymore. It’s not that I don’t like them; it’s just that we have grown in different directions and our lives are going different ways.

Speaking of which, I learned that not everyone is going to like me and more importantly, I learned to not give a shit. Last time I checked, the person with 300 friends did not live a happier life than people with 3. I am not going to get along with everyone and the sooner I figured that out, the happier I have been. Quality over quantity, people!

I also learned to get the hell out of the grey (grey/gray, ugh, who knows) area. Nothing is worse than not knowing where you stand with someone whether that is a boy, friends, what have you. I learned to just fricken ask because lord knows I am NOT shy and I would rather just know.

Also, what’s the rush? I feel like I used to be in such a rush to like… live? But now I am just enjoying the ride. Everything will come when it comes!

This year was a super big growing year for me. I don’t know, I just tried to stop molding myself into who people wanted me to be and I just kind of started to be who I wanted to be. I will admit it; I have always kind of been a little concerned about what people think of me because honestly, who the hell isn’t?  This year I kind of just decided that I was going to be Clarissa and I was going to just do what I wanted to do. I stopped caring about what other people thought of me so much and started to care about what I thought of me. Now, I am not saying that I think I am some fabulous human being who never thinks about what people think of me because I do think about what people think about me. I have my days when I am like WHY DOESN’T THAT PERSON LIKE ME?! I guess I just started to become more confident in not only myself but also in where my life was going. Everyone needs to keep in mind that confidence does not make you conceded and that is something SO important that I learned this year. When did being happy with who you are become such a big issue in the world? I am dying to know. If anyone finds out please feel free to PM me.

All in all, it was a pretty swell year. I met the most amazing people and I made even better memories. Life keeps getting better and better.

Xoxo,

Clarissa

Makeup Geek Eye Shadows 101

Hey lovelies! I said I was going to have a new post up this weekend but I took the weekend off and went out to a tiny town in South Dakota with one of my friends to celebrate her son’s 2nd birthday instead! There is just something about a tiny town that makes my heart happy! Most people are like freaked out by tiny towns in the middle of nowhere and I just fricken LOVE them. Everyone is so nice to you and they just make you feel like you're family. I had the best time out there!

How can someone not love a place that looks like this?  After we left Wessington, I came back to celebrate my mom's birthday with my family back in Minnesota. Lot's of family time this weekend. I had a busy but fabulous weekend to say the least!

So, today I am going to talk about my favorite thing in the world, Makeup Geek eye shadow. This entire blog will be ideal for anyone who is looking to build their collection or for anyone who is looking for amazing quality shadows!

So, for the people who have no idea what Makeup Geek is, it is a website that sells various cosmetic items such as blushes, eye shadow, pigments, brushes, liners, and so on! Makeup Geek has seemed to of taken over the makeup world and I can totally see why, their products are AMAZING! Not only can you get these amazing quality products but you can also get them for an extremely cheap price. It is nuts! I have so many good things to say about Makeup Geek products that it is unreal. I could go on and on and on about them but, I will spare you.

I bought my first like 8ish Makeup Geek shadows this past winter and now I have makeup geek shadows galore, pigments, blushes, foiled shadows, you name it! I adore Makeup Geek products. I love love love Makeup Geek.

I think some people that aren’t overly comfortable with makeup or people who are less comfortable with picking out their own makeup maybe shy away from Makeup Geek products because not only can you not see them in person but they don’t come in palette forms, meaning you have to pick the colors out yourself.

I know that having like a hundred shadows pop up on your computer screen can be a little intimidating but what people don’t realize is how fun it is to pick out your own shadows! Not only is picking out your own shadows fun but it will also save you money because not only will you use your shadows more because you were the one that actually picked them out! I think of how many times that I bought a palette and ended up not using half of the shadows in it… such a waste! You do NOT have that problem with makeup geek! You pick your own!

What Makeup Geek does is sell them by the compact (packaged) or pan (not packaged) and then you can put the pan in like Z-Palettes or what ever. I recommend buying them by the pan and then buying Z-Palettes to put them in because that way you have them all in one place and it is just super duper easy to store. The pans come with a little magnetic back and you can just pop them right in.

Makeup Geek has a ton of products that I love but today I am just going to stick with the shadows that I love. I am going to try to limit myself to the ones that I think that you need the most or like the one’s that I think would make the perfect Makeup Geek starter kit. All of the shadows that I will be mentioning today retail on the Makeup Geek website for $5.99. Yes, I said $5.99.

I am going to split these up into matte shades and shimmer shades. We all know how much I love mattes so I am going to start with mattes.

Peach Smoothie is a shade that I use every single day whether it is on me or someone else. It is the perfect transition shade. Peach Smoothie is a beautiful matte creamy peach color! It looks stunning on every one.

Crème Brulee is a Holy Grail shadow of mine. It is a must have! I use this shade with Peach smoothie for my transition color every single day. It is a soft medium sand brown color. It is just absolutely gorgeous.

Cupcake is the most beautiful dusty rose pinky matte color. I like pink shadows, I think that they are very flattering on a lot of people. Cupcake is a fun color if you are looking for a change of pace from the normal brown colors.

Chickadee is a shade that so many people freak out and shy away from because of the color. Chickadee is an orangish yellowish matte color. It warms up any eye look! It is such a fun color for summer! It is awesome. Try it and you will fall in love. I did my friend’s makeup the other day and she was stunned to find out that she had orange on her eyes. Don’t knock it till you try it!

Barcelona Beach is another shade that I just adore! I think every one should have it in their Makeup Geek shadow collection because it is a soft cool tone matte brown. It is hard to find a cool toned brown! This shade can also be a transition shade or a crease color.

Preppy is such a unique shadow! It is like an olivey brownish matte color. It is perfect for people with a more olivey skin tone. It looks ideal on people with a tan! I use it as a crease color.

Bitten is my favorite eye shadow in all of life. It is such a holy grail. If there is one shadow that I want you to buy, it is this shadow. It is the most perfectly beautiful cranberry wine matte brown shade. You can wear it with literally any other shadow. You can wear it with pinks, browns, blacks, taupe, anything! Buy it, buy it, buy it!

Frappe is a warm maple matte brown shade. It is gorgeous! I use it as a crease shade all the time and it looks absolutely stunning.

Cocoa Bear is a shade that everyone and I mean everyone needs to own! Go buy this fricken shadow! It is another holy grail of mine. It is the most perfect matte warm reddish warm brown! It warms up any and every eye look and looks perfect on the outer corner.
Mocha is that perfect deep matte brown that is ideal for a neutral smokey eye! It is just stunning and I think that everyone needs to have it in their own collection. It is such a simple shade but it is a necessity.

Corrupt is the blackest of all black shadows. People say that it is the blackest on the market and from what I know, it really is. It is literally as black as fricken night.

So, that was what… eleven matte shadows. Oops! A girl's gotta have options people! Now, for the shimmery shades!

Shimma Shimma is an extremely pigmented pinky beige champagne shimmery color. It gives you a nice shine without looking glittery. It is so multi purpose that it blows my mind. I use it as a brow highlight, inner corner highlight, or a cheekbone highlight.  It is amazing!

Glamorous is the perfect all over the lid shade! It has such a pretty shine to it. Glamorous is a gold bronze coppery pan of shimmery delight.

Cosmopolitan is another shade that everyone should have! I dropped mine and it broke and I am sad. I need to order it again. It is a beautiful rosy gold shade. It is ideal for an all over the lid color because of the beautiful shine that it gives off. It is gorgeous!

Moondust is honestly amazing. It is flattering on anyone and everyone. I use it all the time for my prom girls that I do. Moondust is a metallic taupey silvery shade.

Burlesque is another dark cranberry shade. It is very similar to the shade Bitten expect Burlesque has a shimmer to it. I love this shade on the lid with Cupcake in the crease and Cocoa Bear in the outer corner.

Taupe Notch is another gorgeous color. It is a dark sandy taupey shade with a slight shimmer. It is not over board on the shine life and that is why I like it. You can use it in the crease or all over the lid. I like the taupey colors. I think they are flattering on blue eyes.

Homecoming is an amazing color! It is another one that I broke along with cosmopolitan... I broke four of them. It was a sad afternoon. Traveling from Minnesota to South Dakota and back again does that to a girl! Homecoming is such a smooth medium taupey brown with a goldish shimmer to it. It is gorgeous!

Hey, hey, hey! I did it in fewer than 20 shadows! Yay! Like I said, these are the ones that I find myself using the most. I have a few more favorite shades but they are a little out there. I just wanted to fill you guys on the ones that I feel like everyone should have! I know that I will be using them a lot in my step-by-step’s and tutorials and you guys probably are like what the hell is going on and where are these from. So, there is a start for you! By no means am I saying go by all of these at once… unless you want to! I worked my way up and am continuing to buy more. I would love to have every single Makeup Geek eye shadow but I gotta pace myself!

Pictured above is Peach Smoothie, Crème Brulee, Cupcake, Chickadee, Barcelona Beach, Preppy, Bitten. I wanted to show it in the natural lighting so you guy’s could actually see how pigmented they really are.

Pictured above are Frappe, Cocoa Bear, Mocha, Shimma Shimma, Glamorous, Moondust, Burlesque, and Taupe Notch. The shimmer ones are just amazing. So pigmented and they feel like butter.

I hope you guys found this helpful. Let me know if you guys to decide to buy them! I have another shipment in mind from Makeup Geek again. Their new collection of the foiled eye shadows are out of this world stunning! So, yeah… I need them in my life.
Anyways, have a fab day!

Xoxo,

Clarissa
